New bridal jewelry

Inspired by the creation of Liz's jewelry ... I made some fun earrings (which I will photograph and post) ... I'm feeling so very inspired right now ... trying to make something new everyday ... sit at my bead table and make a piece of art ... something ... anything.

This post is short because we're headed to Newport, OR for the weekend ... maybe I'll find some fun beads while we're there.

TK Bridal ... designing a postcard

I can't tell sometimes how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends ... and talented too!!

A couple years ago, my friend Amy was getting married and ordered TK Jewelry for all the special ladies involved in the wedding ... these were the bracelets and earrings for the bridemaids.

Amy is an amazing graphic designer, she helped me design my wedding invitations and program ... and was one of the lovely ladies who helped decorate on our special day.

Anywho ... while going through this whole process through LWL, I decided to create a totally separate image for TK Bridal from TK Jewelry. I want to keep the signature TK heart ... but have the logo and all associated materials have a more "platinum" kind of feel ... classy ... sophisticated ... special ... glamorous ... like a bride on her wedding day.

I thought - who better to help me with this than my good friend Amy Barr!! So we chatted and talked about what I want to do ... including creating a beautiful collateral piece that I can leave at hair salons and bridal boutiques ... and she was very excited!!

She gave me lots to think about ... like photos and wording ... how I wanted it to feel and the colors ...

Thinking about TK Jewelry ... TK Bridal .. and figuring out what to focus on has been very challenging for me. One of the other assignments we had for our last LWL meeting was to write a press release ... I won't share that yet -- cuz it's a work in progress ... but I did share my "about TK Bridal Jewelry" statement with Amy ... and would love to hear what anyone who's reading this thinks about it ...

About TK Bridal Jewelry: Tabitha (TK) Rhodes has been making jewelry for over 5 years. Her designs are inspired by those around her, customizing jewelry for brides and bridal parties is her passion. Drawing inspiration from the colors and personal style of each bride, she creates pieces that a bride wears beautifully and/or fondly gives to her bridesmaids and honored friends, bestowing upon them a sense of beauty, grace and importance – a small gift for their never-ending friendship, support and love on this momentous occasion.

If you're reading this ... I'd love to hear from you ...

Liz's wedding jewelry

This last weekend I created some beautiful pieces of bridesmaid jewelry for my friend Liz's upcoming nuptials.

The dresses are beautiful ... this one in a chocolate brown.

She wanted earrings for her girls. I came up with four options ... the last being the one she liked the most.

I can't wait to see the photos of wedding day ... I think the earrings she chose were perfect ... beautiful ... inspired ... elegant ... much like my friend Liz.

Tonite

So tonite ... was the last meeting of the August Incubator for Ladies Who Launch (LWL). While it was a kind of the end of something (no more Tuesday meetings) it was also a great beginning. I joined the ongoing program - which will give me access to ladies (who launch) across the country.

I'm so excited ... here are just a few of the things of noteworthiness from tonite:
  • I will be partering with one of the lovely ladies in my group on a custom line for her business (Therapy in Transition)
  • For the past two years, the Portland Rose Festival Court has been bejeweled by LWL incubator graduates. I could be the next one!!
  • As an ongoing member I may receive opportunities such as movies looking for jewelry designers, national media opps and much much more.
  • I would like to have a table at the October Portland LWL event which will allow me to showcase my goodies to over 300 local business ladies
  • Tara's cheesecake was very yummy!

Yay for LWL ... thank you for the motivation ... the momentum ... and the continued support!

A year of jewelry

So I've seen this done by many other designers, and though I feel a little like a copycat ... I've decided to start a journey.

Today - is the last day of my Ladies Who Launch Incubator Intensive here in Portland, OR.

The journey has been very interesting. We started out with determining our "projects" -- three things in our life that we wanted movement on. Then, each week we have been helping each other get closer to that goal. I'm amazed at how much more motivation I feel -- I feel "unstuck" ... I am setting goals for myself and determined to achieve them.

I've been putting my jewelry on the back burner for the last year (since we moved to Portland) for many reasons. That said - my bridal jewelry referrals have still been coming in (without promotion) ... so I can only imagine what I can achieve once I actually put effort into promotion!

Speaking of which ... here are some pretty pieces I've been making for my good friend Liz Seagrave's wedding.

Who knows what the future holds. For today ... I'm excited for my last week of the incubator program ...

Thanks for reading. TK
